The Virginian-Pilot is pleased to be working with local historical organizations, libraries and other institutions to bring our readers an heirloom-quality, coffee-table pictorial book on the 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation. This keepsake book features hundreds of stunning historic images, including our coverage of Oceana Naval Air Station and Norfolk Naval Station.

We are thrilled to give our readers the opportunity to participate in this unique project. If you have photographs that meet the submission guidelines below, please bring them to one of our scanning sessions listed listed at right or upload them online. Because we expect a large turnout, we advise you download, print and fill out photo submission forms if you plan to attend a public scan session. Please fill out one form per photo.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Naval history photos
- Photos taken from the early 1900s to present.
- Photos only – preferably original photos (no newspaper clippings or photocopies).
- Photos taken at Norfolk Air Base and surrounding area.
- One submission form per photo.
- 10 photos per family. Call 360-687-6731 to set up an appointment if you’re a private collector with a sizeable collection.
